Lifeguard

On the homepage of ISN (Instituto de Socorro a Náufragos) there is this banner where you can read in Portuguese “at the beach don’t become a victim, going and coming back only depends on you”. Sometimes it depends on the other person who has to get in the water in order to save you from drowning, the lifeguard.
Today I’ve finished the second day of examinations to become exactly that. After a month of intense training on water and a good dosage of theory I’m accomplished the physical and mental standard, being awarded a lifeguard status.

In the beginning of the year I’ve decided to take this course as an inner-voice was telling me I need to be able to do something to help people in trouble, with respiratory or heart failure – the last time someone needed my help I just panicked. Since my environment is mainly the liquid type I thought this course would give me that. Now, maybe I can save the next one …
